Indian Affairs hosted 16 separate consultation and listening sessions in 2017 regarding whether, and how, to revise 25 CFR 140, Licensed Indian Traders.

2017 Review of Licensed Indian Trader Regulations

In 2017, IA sought Tribal input on the need to update the "Licensed Indian Traders" Regulations currently found at 25 CFR 140. The current regulations were promulgated in 1957 and have not been comprehensively updated since 1965.

The Tribal Leader letter announcing the 2017 consultation sessions is available here. Consultation sessions were then added to the calendar and the deadline for comments was extended to October 30, 2017. The Tribal Leader letter announcing the extension is available here.
